On Landscape: Meeting of Minds

Last weekend was the 3rd On Landscape Meeting of Minds conference at the Rheged Centre, Penrith (and the 3rd time I have been along to it). It was another excellent meeting, with more people than ever. A superb range of speakers, including Charlie Waite, Sandra Bartocha, Thomas Joshua Cooper, Paul Hill, Theo Bosboom, Nick White, Paul Kenny and Colin Prior. Something a little special was that I got the chance to talk to Thomas Joshua Cooper who I have long admired for his remarkable persistence and originality of the framing of his picture, but who rarely emerges from his darkroom. It was also really good to catch up with Paul Kenny again and see some his new colour lightbox work. In all a very successful weekend, organised with efficiency by Charlotte Britton and Tim Parkin of On Landscape. Each participant has the opportunity to submit an image to be printed by Fotospeed and displayed in a community exhibition. I chose one of the blue reflections images from Shoregill in Mallerstang that was the lead image for the exhibition in Ispra and one of my favourites of the last three years. The next Meeting of Minds conference will be held at Rheged in November 2020. It would be nice to be there!
